Meet Frenchies, Olive and Otis

I met Olive and Otis, two French Bulldogs, at Paws and Claus, a fundraising shoot I did with Woofies last month. Their mom called me a few days later to schedule a shoot for the two of them, plus mom and dad. We had a gorgeous, warm day, and as an outdoor photographer who is always cold, I was very happy, especially as it was late November. Their property is really beautiful, and in addition to the props I brought along, they have some great ones, including their antique GTO and a rusty piece of farm equipment.

Olive is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. One of the owners of Woofies describes her by saying, “Everyone needs an Olive in their life.” And she is absolutely right. Olive also is super laid back and easy to photograph. Wherever you want her to sit, she sits. And looks at the camera. Otis is a 7-month-old puppy who is joyful and full of energy. He was a great sport though; really, how many puppies will sit on a tricycle? His mom put a shoe next to the front wheel in his “Speed Racer” photo to keep it stable, which we left in the photo when I printed it because it adds to the humor of it.

One more reason why I feel like I have the best job in the world: After we finished the session, I stayed for about 30 minutes, talking to Olive and Otis’s mom. Olive spent most of that time snuggled in my lap. I may not get paid vacation time as a job perk, but I think the perks I do have are so much better!
