Puppy Photos for National Puppy Day

National Puppy Day is the perfect excuse to share some of my favorite puppy pictures. Photographing puppies is one of my favorite parts of being a pet photographer, but it also comes with unique challenges. Working quickly, having plenty of patience, and keeping puppies safe are the keys to a successful puppy photography session. (In all but one of the photos below, the puppies were kept in place by a slip lead, which I edited out.)

I love photographing puppies for so many reasons: they’re adorable; I get to play with them; I often get puppy kisses; I get a puppy fix without having to wake up multiple times in the middle of the night to let one out; puppy breath and puppy bellies, and so much more.

A lot of my clients participate in my “Watch Me Grow” Plan, where I photograph puppies (or kittens) three times over their first year of life to show how much they grow.

Puppyhood doesn’t last long. One day they’re all oversized paws, puppy breath, and endless energy. Before you know it, they’ve grown into adults.
