End-of-Life Pet Photography

When time is short, these photos become everything.

We know when we first bring our pets home that our time with them will not be nearly as long as we would like. You want to hold onto it — not just in your memory, but in something you can see and touch long after they’re gone. That’s what these sessions are for. During your session, we’ll keep everything flexible and completely tailored to your pet. Whether we meet outdoors or in your home, I’ll work at your pace and your pet’s pace.

These sessions can be emotional, but they’re also incredibly meaningful. One of my clients shared this after her session: “My heart will forever have a piece of closure thanks to Ellen. And these photos will forever be part of me.”

If your pet’s health is changing quickly, please reach out right away. I’ll do everything I can to schedule you as quickly as possible.

Free, no-obligation. We’ll talk about your pet and what would feel right for you.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you schedule my session?

I know time can be critical. I’ll do everything I can to schedule your session within days of you reaching out. Please reach out if you’re feeling urgency.

What if my pet has a hard time moving around?

These sessions move entirely at your pet’s pace. If your dog has difficulty walking or tires easily, we’ll adjust, giving them plenty of time to rest and be comfortable.

What if I get emotional during the session?

That’s completely okay. Many of my clients worry about this, but it rarely happens. People usually get caught up in the experience of being with their dog. But it’s totally fine if you do.

“After receiving the devastating news of my dog Midna’s terminal diagnosis, I reached out to Ellen with a last-minute request. Without hesitation, she found a way to fit us in, and that kindness meant everything to me.

Ellen captured Midna’s personality so beautifully—her silliness, her love of cuddles, and the bond we share. She handled the entire experience with compassion and care, even when my emotions made it hard to go through the photos.

These images are a treasure, and I’ll be forever grateful to Ellen for creating them during one of the hardest moments of my life.” — Crystal, Leesburg, VA

“Saying goodbye to a pet is one of the hardest experiences a person can face, but Ellen brought such tenderness and respect to our end-of-life session that it became one of the most beautiful days I will ever remember. She captured the love between Luna and me in a way I will never forget. These photos are a gift I will carry with me forever.” — Jordan, Leesburg, VA

“Ellen worked quickly with me to get pictures with my dog who was dying of cancer. The pictures were fantastic and Ellen was extremely friendly and professional during the whole process.
