Best Reason Ever For “Why My Dog Doesn’t Know ‘Sit'”
Before any pet session, I always have a consultation so that I can learn more about the pet and what the owner would like from the shoot. If it’s a dog, one of the questions I always ask is if he or she knows commands. Margaret, Max’s mom, told me a very, very funny story about why Max doesn’t respond consistently to verbal commands. In addition to Max, Margaret and her boyfriend Ollie, have an African parrot, Alex. Alex is smart, talkative and very good at mimicking voices. When Margaret and Ollie first started dating, “Margaret” would call Ollie and he would respond, only to find out that it was Alex, not Margaret (a reason Ollie sometimes still uses for not answering). :) Overhearing Max getting trained, Alex learned, “Max, come” and “Max, sit,” which Max did at first. He wised up fairly quickly though and stopped responding to Alex. And Margaret. And Ollie. Margaret and Ollie are now teaching him hand signals.
