Dogs in Action

Because dogs just want to have fun!

This gallery showcases action outdoor dog photography in Northern Virginia and is all about motion, joy, and pure dog energy. Whether they’re running full speed through a field, leaping to catch a ball, jumping into a pool, or bounding through the snow, these action shots capture dogs being dogs. If your dog loves to move, we absolutely should include action photos as part of your session—no extra charge, just extra fun!

And don’t worry if your dog can’t be off-leash for these photos—I can edit the leash out later. Your dog’s safety is my top priority.

Joyful and full of personality—action photos are often client favorites.

Looking for Action Dog Photography in Northern Virginia?

Whether your dog loves chasing a ball or Frisbee, jumping into the pool, or racing through grass or snow, action photos capture their spirit in a way posed portraits simply can’t. These images are joyful, expressive, and so much fun to create — for you, your pup (and me)!

And don’t worry if your dog can’t be off-leash. I edit leashes out of a lot of my dog photos, including action shots. That means you get natural-looking images without compromising your dog’s safety. If you have a fenced-in yard, I can also come to you and photograph your dog at home if that’s a better fit. Just reach out to schedule your free consultation — I’ll help you plan a session that works perfectly for you and your dog.

Want photos that show not just your dog’s energy, but your connection too?

While this gallery focuses on action dog photography, I think it’s equally important to capture the moments between the action. For example, the way your dog looks at you, leans in, or offers kisses—each one is a sign of the bond you share. These moments are just as meaningful as the big, energetic ones. That’s why they’re always part of the dog photography sessions I offer in Northern Virginia. Although you don’t have to be in the photos, I highly encourage you to consider it. You might be surprised how much you’ll value the ones that include you.
