Loudoun County, VA — Ellen Zangla, owner of Ellen Zangla Photography, partnered with Woofie’s Ashburn–Leesburg for the 12th annual Paws & Claus pet photo fundraiser on November 15. This year’s event was the most successful ever, raising a record $10,300 to support Paws of Honor, a nonprofit that provides veterinary care and products at no charge for retired military and law enforcement K9s.
At the event, hosted by Woofie’s Ashburn–Leesburg, Zangla photographed 175 dogs and one cat — all of the proceeds were donated to Paws of Honor. Several local sponsors also contributed, helping the fundraiser reach its highest total to date.
“I look forward to photographing Paws & Claus every year,” said Zangla. “It takes a strong partnership to make something like this happen, and together, Woofie’s and I are able to raise a lot of money for worthy organizations. I was thrilled that this year’s event benefited Paws of Honor. These dogs and their handlers have done so much for our country, and it is wonderful that we were able to give back to them.”
In addition to photographing the many pets who attended for holiday portraits, Zangla also photographed two retired Paws of Honor K9s to help share their stories and highlight the organization’s mission.
“We look forward to Paws & Claus every year,” said Leslie Barron and Tanya Lee, co-owners of Woofie’s Ashburn–Leesburg. “This is such a fun event, and partnering with Ellen allows us to bring our community together in a meaningful way while supporting causes that are close to our hearts.”
Local support was also provided by A New View, who designed the set and whose custom scenes have become a signature element of the annual fundraiser. Lead sponsors Caring Hands Animal Hospital of Ashburn, LuvMyDog, and Chewy provided significant support for the event. Additional sponsors included DoodyCalls of Northern Virginia, The Tashi Chronicles, The Wine Attic, Café MG, and Ultimutt Cakes Dog Bakery.

Paws of Honor provides comprehensive veterinary care to retired K9s who have served in federal agencies, the U.S. military, and law enforcement departments. Once retired, these dogs lose access to public funding, leaving their handlers responsible for all medical costs. Fundraisers like Paws & Claus help ensure these working dogs receive the care they need and deserve.
