A Well-Loved Dog and a Well-Loved Family
When you look a the photos of Marley, a beautiful Spanish Waterdog, I think you will see that he was a well-loved dog who truly adored his family. Marley’s mom called me because he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and did not have much longer to live. It is always heartbreaking for me when I get a call from someone telling me that they’d like to schedule a session with me quickly because their pet is very sick and doesn’t have much time left. But after the session, when I look at the photos and know that I have captured the essence of their dog or cat, and the relationship the family has with him or her, I am happy. I am happy because I know I have captured photos the family will treasure for a lifetime. We know that when we get our pets it is likely that we will outlive them. Enjoying their lives while they’re with us is the most important thing. Having great memories and photos after they’re gone helps to ease the pain of their loss.
Looking at these photos of Marley with his family, I think it is obvious that he was incredibly loved and happy. Like many dogs do, he gave as good as he got. He loved going to work with his mom and spent much of his day at her feet in her office. He loved snuggling with his sisters and running after them in the yard. Marley loved getting attention from his dad. I know his family misses him tremendously but his mom told me that she is incredibly grateful to have these photos of him. I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet him and create images they will love forever.
